Torispherical and hemispherical domes for certified pressure vessels to ASME 8 and AS1210 codes are now being manufactured in New Zealand by Global Stainless - thanks to their recent acquisition of a large hydraulic press and heavy capacity flanging (knuckling) machine.

Global Stainless also offers a "knuckling only service" for customer-supplied cones, domes and flat discs and organises packaging and transport.

"We do not find freight to be a disadvantage," says a spokesperson for the company.  "We send domes all around New Zealand and Australia."

Domes are inspected in the company's Hawera workshop prior to dispatch and this typically includes ultrasound thickness testing, dimensional checks and verification reports by SGS M&I.

The end use of these coded and non-coded domes in various thicknesses and material types are diverse and include duplex stainless steel pressure vessels, pharmaceutical tanks, vacuum vessels, manure spreader tanks, plastic moulds, cement silo ends, marine buoys, dome bottom silos and air receivers.

Global Stainless also manufactures large diameter, long radius stainless steel bends for the process industry - and spheres for architecture using a unique patented forming process which creates a contour so near perfect that it cannot be compared to traditional methods of forming a double curved shape.
